Small Business Branding: Our best tips + Spotlight on Glam By Charina in Sammamish

Coming in hot with this small business spotlight on Charina Malinak, founder of Glam By Charina. Since this was her first branding portfolio session for her Sammamish hair salon we really wanted to visually communicate “who” Charina is as a person, share her energy and really let her joyful spirit shine.

With her big, beautiful smile and amazing head of hair, Charina is equal parts fierce and fabulous. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb here when I tell you that if Bravo’s Real Housewives had a Sammamish cast, Charina’s boutique would be their go-to Eastside Salon… gorgeous extensions, pretty color and flawless cuts for a “more is more” magic every time.

  1. The first lesson of Personal Branding: Let your client know who you are, not just what you do.

This lady was legitimately stopping traffic in her red dress and sequin look. The Mom of two took it all in stride serving a little sass like a pro.

Glam… I mean c’mon, it’s even in the name of her business, so we needed to deliver a look that had all kinds of confidence. Red lip and low pony with a body-con dress for the win.

2. Second lesson of personal branding for your small business: be authentically you.

The best way to connect with “your people” is to show them who you are with every picture, post and communication. Selecting clothing, accessories and expressions that really meet your client where they are means you are more likely to draw people that relate, value you + what you do.

3. Our third and final personal branding tip? Stop waiting for perfection.

What is that saying? Perfection is just procrastination. Personal branding is not about perfection so just go for it. Whether it’s your business, the timing, your experience, your size or age - it’s never going to be flawless so just get moving. Do something. And then do something more. Change it, add to it, edit but embrace the journey, kick up your heals and make something for yourself. And remember… we are here to help. Lighting, posing, music, camera ready styling, planning and communication are all part of the process and we will walk you through one step at a time.
