FAQ: Should I invest in professional hair and makeup for my family photo session?

One of the most frequently asked questions we hear is "should I invest in professional hair and makeup prior to my family photo session?"  In short, YES.  We highly recommend it for a number of reasons, but here are our top three...

Special thank you to the Strandell Family (pictured here) for their epic Spring snuggle in the sand! We first met Bellevue High School senior Annika this past summer for her senior portraits and it's clear that lovely runs in the family.

No. 1 = A camera ready face is different than a street ready face.  Whether you are being photographed indoors or outside, the way light plays with your facial features is captured differently on camera than perceived by the naked eye.  Having a professional makeup experience does not necessarily mean smokey eyes and contouring (although we do love a chic glam look!).  Our professional artists will be able to achieve a fresh and natural look that feels like you on your best day!

No. 2 = It is an amazing way to have some quality time with the ladies in your family!  Not only does everyone get to be pampered together, but the relaxation prior to being on camera will help increase confidence during your session and allow for those fabulously candid moments to appear with ease.

No. 3 = Why not indulge a little bit!?  Invest in something that makes you feel pampered and beautiful. Go all out in making this experience one you will never forget!  The joy of family portraits begins with your excitement in prepping your style, hair, and makeup, and we are excited to follow it all the way through to a wall worthy portrait that you can proudly display in your home.
